Descriptions
Protection and control of high voltage circuits. Here we will look at the protection and control principles of high voltage substations. HV bus differential protection is studied along with restraints due to CT saturation and mismatch and its solution “Restraint Differential Protection”. Starting with system faults and their impact on switchgear configuration and elements, simple “Differential Protection” is studied along with the malfunction due to CT saturation and mismatch. High voltage circuit breakers are studied in terms of the different types (oil, vacuum, compressed air, SF6), their control (closing/trip/anti-pumping), the reclosing syncrocheck relay CUH 90 – VG as well as the circuit breaker failure protection module along with a brief look at dynamic monitoring devices, transmission and remote tripping as well as the need to ensure immunity to earth potential and no-load situations.
