Descriptions
Personal Finance: This course covers personal finance concepts, starting with the basics and moving on to complex topics. We will cover each step in detail. We will include many example assignments, both in presentation format and Excel worksheet assignments. The Excel worksheet presentations include a downloadable Excel workbook with at least two tabs, one with the answer, the second with a pre-formatted worksheet that can be completed in a step-by-step process along with the instructional videos. Learners will understand the similarities and differences between personal finance and business finance. We will discuss how to set personal financial goals, taking into account the life cycle and specific life situations and preferences.
The course will discuss the differences and overlaps in areas needed to create effective personal financial plans, including economics, accounting, and finance. We’ll also learn about the concept of the time value of money, be able to perform present value and future value calculations, and know when such calculations are needed. Time value of money concepts are some of the most difficult concepts to fully understand, but they are necessary when making decisions that affect future periods, such as retirement planning decisions. We’ll cover time value of money concepts at the beginning of the course so we’ll have them handy as the course progresses. Learners will also learn money management skills, skills related to accounting, compiling financial data in financial reports, and using these reports to create budgets.
