Master procedural maze and dungeon generation. This course allows you to algorithmically create unique computer environments and gameplay. Its strength lies in its ability to automatically develop game content on the fly, reducing the amount of work required by a game designer. However, implementing such a strategy requires serious preparation on the part of programmers and artists. A deep understanding of the role that both sides of the game development coin (technical/logical and artistic/design) play in procedural generation is key to successful implementation. In this course, Penny and Mike will provide a unique experience for both programmers and artists, combining their skills and years of industry and academic experience to provide you with a holistic learning experience in which you will find content and invaluable craftsmanship. Mike will start by teaching you how to model six separate modular meshes that can be perfectly connected to create an entire labyrinth. Next, it takes you through the dungeon building elements, where each module is created using a smaller subset of models that can be mixed and matched to speed up the workflow of designing and creating game assets. You’ll create a set of sewer elements with pipes that connect together to form a labyrinth, and then create elements with a brick texture to represent the dungeon. Each model will be ready to use in Unity once completed.
