Explanation
Learn How To Program & Model Cities In Unity/Blender, procedural generation for games and modern environments lends itself to algorithmic generation for endless computer-generated experiences. Its strength lies in its ability to automatically develop digital content on demand, reducing the amount of work required by programmers and designers. However, a lot of preparation is necessary for such a strategy to be implemented. A thorough understanding of the role that both sides of the game development coin (technical/rational and artistic/design) play in process generation is key to successful implementation. In this course, Penny and Mike bring their own experience as both programmers and artists and combine their skills and years of industry and academic knowledge to bring you a complete learning experience, in which you will find valuable content and skills.
This course uses Unity 2020.3 and Blender 3.0 and is compatible with Windows and Mac. The content is presented in two parts that can be studied in any way, independently or together. In Part A, Mike will take you through a series of steps, starting with suspending your city with simple placeholders, an important and often overlooked design step. Taking those placeholders we add a few more details to start restoring the city and get the road system right. Once that warm-up is out of the way, Mike will begin to focus on modular thinking by looking at the basic building blocks needed to make our property. And finally, we’ll move from placing parts by hand to placing them directly, first with Blender’s Modifier Stack and finally completely systematically using the new Geometry Node system in Blender 3.0.
What will you learn?
