Electrical, Electronics and PCB Design Safety & Compliance Being a competent electronic designer does not make you a good one. Being an expert in Arduino, Raspberry, firmware, embedded software and controllers, hardware, PCB design, digital and analog design, is part of what designers need to know. A beautiful and functional product can be attractive, but if the basic safety rules are not considered even before starting the actual design work, a Poor design can put people at risk and cause its designer major problems, the course focuses on design safety in electrical/electronic applications, including PCB design. It covers the most important aspects that designers need to know, and teaches a general approach to develop electrical and electronic applications (including PCB) in accordance with safety principles and international standards. We will introduce the basic concepts and techniques of electrical, electronic and PCB design for safety, teaching you the way to a project that complies with the product safety law.
We will cover both basic electrical specifications such as product classification and more advanced concepts such as creepage calculations and critical electronic components. During the course you will find practical examples of how to use these techniques in the design of electrical and electronic devices at home (eg food mixers and toasters), as well as how to set up some software. from CAD/CAM for PCB design. We will take as a reference the most important and recognized international safety standards, such as the IEC 60335 series, IEC 60529, and so on. The last part will be dedicated to describe the whole design process, from the design specifications to the final verification and approval, with a practical example of the design of the electric bread.
