Description
Basics of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) Learn the common language of the designing, production, and quality engineer, known as geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. In this course, students will learn to use a specialized language called Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to communicate precise instructions for making parts. You will understand the basics, learn advanced techniques, and practice using GD&T on real engineering drawings. You will also learn how to ensure that parts fit together correctly and learn about the latest industry standards. GD&T is widely used in aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, and other industries where precision engineering and manufacturing processes are critical. It helps reduce ambiguity, allows for more efficient manufacturing, and ultimately leads to higher quality products. For example, instead of simply specifying the diameter of a hole, GD&T can be used to define not only the diameter but also its allowable variation, its position relative to other features, and its relationship to a datum feature. This level of detail ensures that the parts fit together in an assembly in the intended manner.
What you will learn
- Fundamental GD&T principles, including datums and tolerance zones.
- How to read technical drawings?
- Advanced GD&T concepts such as form, orientation and position control.
- Level 1 to Level 4 Controls in GD&T
Who is this course for
- Engineers, designers and technicians involved in the product design, manufacturing, quality control and inspection processes.
- mechanical engineering students and engineers
- Industrial Engineering Students and Engineers
