Descriptions
Angular Progressive Web Apps (PWA) Masterclass and FREE eBook. In the first part of the course, we are going to dive directly into the Angular Service Worker and the built-in support for the Angular CLI PWA. We’ll take a simple Angular app as a starting point and start adding PWA features to it to turn it into a progressive web app. We’ll start by adding the Angular Service Worker and running the app download and install functionality. We’ll learn all about application versioning and learn about several caching strategies available to cache not only application packages but also application data. We will then add an application wrapper using Angular CLI and Angular Universal and make the application one-click installable using the application manifest.
Finally, we will add push notifications to the app using Angular Service Worker to provide a full mobile PWA experience. In Part 2, you’ll learn about Progressive Web Apps in general (including Service Workers, App Manifest, and Cache Storage APIs), and use these APIs to implement several native-like features: one-click installation, offline mode. support, downloading and installing applications, caching application data and much more. We’ll also learn the basics of Service Worker Web from first principles using the browser’s built-in APIs, and confirm our understanding of what’s happening every step of the way using the built-in Chrome Dev Tools PWA. The knowledge gained in this section has a long shelf life as it covers the basics of the browser and how the new PWA Web works in general, so everything covered here is still applicable to any other development platform other than Angular.
