“I found this course uneven. The first half of the course is a good introduction to how the brain works. It’s not overly technical, although it does cover important neurological concepts. Unfortunately, some of the lectures in the second half of the course are basically a collage of tricks. are memory hall tricks. To be fair, Dr. Rostock offers what I call “hall tricks” as brain “optimization” exercises (hence the course title). How do I memorize long lists of numbers or words? ?That’s why I bought this course? Although Dr. Rostak has laid out important concepts clearly (especially in the first half of the course), these concepts are overshadowed by Dr. Rostak’s weak and almost monotonous presentation style. Course Guide according to Standards TGC is below average. It is written in a narrative format (as opposed to a bulleted or outline format). There was only one useful graphic in the course guide, an overview map of the brain. There were about four pages for each lecture, which was a little low-level. There is a bibliography, but most references only list the reference and do not explain what value the reference provides. There is no glossary, which is surprising given the highly technical nature of the subject. I used the video version of the course. While there were useful visual graphics, they were not necessary. It was possible to listen to the course in audio-only mode. This course was published in 2011.
