Successful Negotiation: Essential Strategies and Skills is a training course on effective and successful negotiation skills and strategies published by Coursera Online University. We all negotiate with different people on a daily basis and try to convince them on different levels. On a basic, personal level, we negotiate with friends, family members, spouses, children, etc. At higher levels we face political and economic and other business negotiations.
No large company can survive without profitable contracts with other companies and business partners, and all these contracts are the result of direct negotiations between the company’s managers and other large companies. Negotiation technique is very important in personal development in business and can take you to high positions.
A successful negotiation involves four different stages:
- Preparation: At this stage we collect information in a completely systematic and professional manner and prepare for negotiations with other parties. Determining the strategy is the most important element of this step.
- Negotiation: At this point, we need to implement the specified tactics and strategies in order to achieve the best possible result. Precision in implementing these tactics is very important.
- Closing of the contract: This step actually constitutes the last part of the negotiation and brings us to a clear and precise contract. It is very important to study the contract carefully and match it to our goals and assumptions.
- Performance review and overall assessment of the effectiveness of strategies and tactics
