Simulation Environment Flowex provides technology that enables you to study how systems will behave in the real world, where fluid is the driving factor. Flowex system simulation conveys the overall effect of changing individual properties of components, allowing customers to extensively explore all possible variations in system design and system optimization. Flowex SE provides turbomachinery engineers with easy-to-use, off-the-shelf tools for designing combustion chambers, air-flow systems, blade cooling flows, lubrication systems for air-oil mixing, as well as cycle combinations and operation. By combining 1D Flownex flow models with 3D heat transfer models in ANSYS Mechanical or CFX, detailed turbine cooling simulations can be performed.
Flowex includes industry-standard pressure drop and heat transfer coupling for standard turbine features such as turbulator strips and fins. This allows designers to quickly see the effect of changes in their design on the maximum temperature and cooling rate of the air. Preliminary design of a combustor requires that a wide range of geometries and operating conditions be evaluated and compared.
