Description
Rosetta Stone TOTALe is a computer-based language learning software developed by Rosetta Stone. Rosetta Stone software combines images, text, and audio with increasing difficulty as the student progresses, teaching different vocabulary terms and grammatical features directly and without translation in what is called “dynamic immersion”. According to the company, the software is designed to teach the language as a first language course.
Features and capabilities of Rosetta Stone TOTALe:
- Level 1 consists of eight units: starting with simple words like boy, girl, man, woman, moving up through numbers, past tense, future, and finishing with one unit towards giving
- Units 1 to 4 have 10 lessons plus a lesson overview and Units 5 to 8 have 11 lessons with a lesson overview, for a total of 99 lessons at Level 1.
- Level 2 offers units 9 to 19, but only 9 units are dedicated to acoustics as a practical topic, and units 18 and 19 are assigned \”vocabulary\” as a single topic word. (school, nature, car, etc.)
- A Level 2 unit covers more complex grammatical concepts as well as specific topics such as banking, shopping and travel. The exercise also includes small QuickTime video clips to demonstrate some of the verbs.
- Items 16 and 17 consist only of the old Saturday Evening Post cartoon and description of the pictures. Level 2 has 18 general hours.
- Level 3 has video and written passages to expand the level of instruction.
