Explanation
Rocscience SWedge, is a fast, interactive, and easy-to-use analysis tool to evaluate the stability of surface cracks on rock slopes defined by two (or three) planes of intersection, surface slope, and optional tension cracks. ah. Quickly and easily define tetrahedral (or pentahedral) facet models formed by the intersection of two (or three) planes of suspension. Evaluate the geometry and stability of shear surfaces on rock slopes using the finite-equilibrium method. Model the effects of shear forces, water pressure, external and seismic forces, and constraints and view your 3D models. Perform a probability-based analysis to determine the probability of failure. Dispersion of the model geometry, point of application force, joint strength and substrate, water pressure, external loads, etc. by dividing the statistics into variables.
You can also perform a sensitivity analysis using different values to evaluate their effect on the safety factor. Determine the minimum factor of safety of the surface notch by entering any number of different plane joint orientations and all possible combinations of two joints forming a notch will be analyzed. In deterministic analysis, SWedge calculates a factor of safety for known probabilities. For probabilistic analysis, statistical input data can be entered to account for the uncertainty of seam alignment and resistance values. This results in a factor of safety distribution from which the probability of failure is calculated. For joint analysis, any number of joint planes can be defined, and SWedge will calculate all possible combinations of joint intersections capable of forming a cut.
