Description
Do not confuse the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable with the .NET Framework. Installing .NET is only required for applications based on this framework, but software written in C++ requires another package, which we will introduce in this post. Developers usually use ready-made libraries with DLL extensions when creating their applications in Visual C++. These files can be public and shared between different applications. Programmers have two choices when releasing a program, they must either package the necessary DLLs with the program or use this standard C++ shared library.
Microsoft Visual C++ Distributed Package Features:
This package contains the runtime environment for CRT, C++, ATL, MFC, OpenMP and MSDIA libraries. Some of the side-by-side assemblies of this package are installed in the WinSXS folder of the Windows operating system, which is available on 64-bit Windows. The advantage of using this package is its development and Microsoft bug fixes. Microsoft regularly updates this package every few years, and it fixes bugs and improves performance. Normally, some of these packages are installed when you install any version of Windows, but installing new software may require new packages.
These packages are installed and installed by the developer themselves during installation, or an error occurs because the package is not installed and must be installed separately. Note that each version of this package may be used by multiple applications, and this does not mean that you install the latest version and all applications use it. So never delete old packages. Deleting old packages will eliminate all software that relies on them. So it is best to install all the versions once and for all so that you can feel comfortable.
