Explanation
Economics: Methods and Applications. Would you like to know how to analyze and solve business and financial questions using data analysis tools? Then Econometrics by Erasmus University Rotterdam is the right course for you, as you learn how to interpret data into models to make predictions and support decision-making. By knowing economics, you are able to translate data into models to make predictions and to support decision-making in many different areas, from economics to finance and marketing. Our course begins with introductory lectures on simple multiple regression, followed by topics of particular interest to address model specification, endogenous variables, binary choice data, and time series data. You learn these important topics in economics by watching videos with video questions and by doing exercises that follow the videos. You can follow MOOC without learning additional resources.
Further reading on the topics discussed (including building blocks) is provided in our MOOC-based book: Economic Methods with Business and Economic Applications, Oxford University Press. The links between MOOC modules and textbook chapters are shown in the course guide – more information – How can I continue my education? Staff and PhD students from our Econometric Institute will provide guidance in January and February each year. At other times, we provide only basic guidance. We always recommend that you connect with other students in this course to discuss topics and exercises. To get a certificate for this course, you will be asked to complete six practical exercises (one module per module) and a case project. In addition, you do a review activity of the work of three of your fellow students in this MOOC. You get the certificate if you pass all seven assignments.
