In this course you will first learn how to configure a high frequency transformer in PEMag. Configure the bobbin, select the core and material, set the wire size and insulation type, etc. After configuring PEmag, the same transformer file can be exported to Ansys Electronics Desktop and run as Maxwell 2D or Maxwell 3D. Then in the Maxwell section you add copper for the shield winding, primary and secondary windings. AWG solid round wire is used for the primary winding and Litz wire for the secondary winding. Several other parameters are defined in 2D transient and 3D transient. Different types of solutions will be discussed, but the focus will be on 2D and 3D transient magnetization, because the flyback circuit has primary and secondary winding currents that appear as triangular waveforms. For non-sinusoidal waveforms, the transient solution type will be defined. A simpler circuit simulation is used to push the excitations of the primary and secondary windings of the transformer. After fully commissioning Maxwell, you will see losses in the ferrite core, losses in the copper windings at the primary and secondary, flux density in the core, current density in the wires and lines flow, etc.
