German for you A1/A2: German course for beginners. The goal of this course is to be able to understand the German language and express yourself in German from beginner to elementary level. After the introductory section (some familiar words, pronunciation, numbers and useful facts about the German language), we will immediately work with very simple sentences, and then along with these simple sentences you will learn German grammar. The lectures are mostly short and accompanied by pictures to help you remember everything new you learn. For each topic there are lectures containing only examples. Use pauses between sentences to repeat them. You can also adjust the speed of the Udemy video player (bottom left: 1x) if you feel like things are going too fast (or too slow).

There are practice lectures, tests, exercises (e.g. translations, sentence construction) and some additional downloadable materials, which you can find by clicking the “Resources” button in the lecture overview on the right side of the video player. Later in the course you will find a complete collection of all A1 vocabulary. Your main source of vocabulary will be lectures; it is simply an add-on that allows you to systematically check for gaps in case of an upcoming test. At the end of the course, you can check your progress by taking a large final test covering all course content.
