The Colored Pencil Drawing Masterclass Course: Draw Amazing Art. Learn how to draw amazing, colorful and beautiful artwork with colored pencils! In this colored pencil course, you will learn all about materials, mark-making techniques, color theory, value and light, shape and composition, and the principles and practices of effective colored pencil design. When you complete this colored pencil masterclass, you will have made a variety of colorful drawings to add to your collection or just enjoy, including a water drop, a globe, a “John from the Tomato” still life, a frog, a character design. From fantasy, landscape and portrait. The course is structured so that the lessons build on each other and there is something new to learn in each project. In addition to art projects, there are special sections on mark-making and materials (with practice), color theory (with practice) and transfer techniques (with practice). The departments and projects of this degree program are:
Part 1, Introduction – Learn how to succeed in this course and do a “quick win” exercise to draw an accurate water drop.
Part 2, Marking Construction Methods and Materials – After you learn all about required and optional materials, follow the instructions and try different marking techniques (any set of colored pencils will work, but we’ll look at three different sets as examples).
Part 3, Designing a Globe Project – Learn about light, value, shading, and shape when drawing a globe.
Section 4, Transfer Methods – Learn various methods for tracing and transferring from a photograph or reference drawing as a useful starting point.
Part 5, Drawing a Still Life – Use different colors to draw an interesting tomato still life, optionally using Gamsol to blend and integrate for a smoother look.
Section 6, Color Theory – Learn about the different ways to use color in colored pencil drawings through lectures and subsequent exercises.
Part 7, Drawing a Frog – Learn how to draw a colorful frog and adjust the scene a little compared to the photo reference.
Section 8, Sketching a Figure – Sketch a figure from your imagination or draw and sketch it from a reference. Instead of a gamsol, we will use a cutter to determine the grain of the paper and create a more uniform appearance.
Section 9, Drawing a Landscape – Draw an interesting landscape and learn how to create effective and subtle gradients, as well as layering and blending techniques.
Section 10, Portrait Design – Layer colors to create a realistic and beautiful portrait design. This section begins with exercises to learn how to create different skin tones.
In addition to approximately 25 hours of helpful video tutorials and demonstrations, the course also includes all supporting photo reference files and a full PDF booklet of worksheets that includes mark-making worksheets, art project worksheets, and color theory worksheets.
