Introduction to systematic review and meta-analysis. We will present methods for conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses of clinical trials. We cover how to formulate an answerable research question, define inclusion and exclusion criteria, search for evidence, extract data, assess the risk of bias in clinical trials, and conduct a meta-analysis. We’ll give you a general overview of what to expect from this course, and then introduce you to the high-level concepts of systematic review and meta-analysis, and look at who writes and uses systematic reviews.

- Develop a question that can be answered using the Participant Comparison of Intervention Outcomes (PICO) framework.
- Describe the process used to collect and extract data from clinical trial reports.
- Describe methods for critically assessing the risk of bias in clinical trials.
