Hello, my name is Dan. I’m an Adobe Certified Instructor and LOVE animating infographics and bringing potentially boring data to life using After Effects through data visualization.

This course is aimed at beginners. You don’t need any prior knowledge of VFX compositing or experience in motion graphics. We’ll start with the super basics, taking simple icons and bringing them to life with After Effects.

We’ll work on real projects, connecting Excel to After Effects to transform your boring spreadsheet data into accessible visual information. We will experiment with lighting and cameras. We’ll do some fun things with masking, from looking at the importance of sound in your presentation, to exporting for Youtube, Powerpoint and all kinds of social media, including animated GIFs.

There are projects to complete so you can practice your VFX visual effects skills and use them for your portfolio. There is a cheat sheet and I have exercise files for you to play along with. I’ll also back up my files as I go through each video so you can compare yours to mine – handy in case anything goes wrong.

This is a relaxed, well-paced introduction that will allow you to produce an impressive video for your business or organization. Only basic computer skills are required. If you know how to send emails and surf the Internet, you will do well in our course.
