Description
RdpGuard is a strong firewall against server intrusion attacks (HIPS). It protects Windows servers from a variety of Brutal Forwards attacks on various communication protocols and services, including RDP, MS-SQL, FTP, SMTP, MySQL, IIS Web Login, ASP.NET Web Forms, and more. The program blocks suspicious IPs by monitoring server logs and checking for unauthorized logins. This means that if an IP tries to log into the server multiple times with different words, it will try to break in, so blocking that IP for a certain amount of time will greatly reduce the chance of break-in.
These attacks are usually performed automatically by bots using several different IPs. Therefore, the software should automatically block all suspicious IPs after several attempts with the correct strategy. The program logs all blocked IPs and their blocking dates, and you can access this information at any time. Even if you have strong passwords for your host and are comfortable with brute force attacks, blocking IPs 24/7 will eat into your server resources and bandwidth.
Your Windows server cannot detect a human or bot logging in, so it must respond to all requests, which means CPU usage and bandwidth usage when loading the login page. So instead of one bot, you might want to consider using a few dozen bots, which of course increases server resource usage. Here, using tools like RdpGuard is not only a security option, but also a strategic and administrative necessity.
