REFPROP stands for baseline fluid thermodynamic and transport properties. Is professional engineering An application database developed by NIST that provides the most accurate physical thermal models for a wide range of key industrial applications. REFPROP function:
- Low-GWP Fluids: NIST members play an active role in calculating and developing the physical and thermal properties of low-GWP fluids, and these results are achieved through global collaboration.
- Natural Gas: The REFPROP program has standards used in the gas industry, and its researchers have also been involved in improving the presentation of compounds in natural gas.
- Model Demonstration for Complex Fluids: Complex fluids used in aircraft and transportation fuels have complex compositions consisting of hundreds or thousands of types of compounds. The properties of complex fuels are displayed in very small combinations.
- Carbon absorption and storage: When pipelines need to compress and transport CO 2 , these pipelines may contain impurities such as water. It is also important to know the thermophysical properties of these fluids, which can be calculated with REFPROP.
- Space Applications: Most research on the properties of refrigerant mixtures has been conducted in NIST’s space program. The program includes models of fluids that can be used for propulsion and the atmospheres of neighboring planets.
- Existing industrial fluids: REFPROP has models for the thermodynamic and transport properties of existing industrial fluids and their compounds. The program seeks to add more fluids to these parts based on consumer demand.
