Description
ZylSerialPort is a multi-threaded and asynchronous component for connecting to serial ports in Delphi and C++Builder. This library is coded asynchronously and in multiple threads. This means that the serial port information is received in the background and does not freeze or interfere with your application’s interface while still being able to interact with users. With this component you can easily communicate and read or write to external serial devices such as fingerprint scanner, fax modem, printer, barcode reader, GSM module, GPS devices, etc.
Apart from the serial port, you are also able to receive data from the USB port as well as other ports like IrDA and Bluetooth. This is because these devices usually have drivers to redirect the data to a serial virtual port and the component can easily connect to the destination device through this virtual port. If your device’s USB port does not have this capability, try using a USB controller that provides such a virtual port, such as an FTDI adapter or USB/RS-232.
This component is available in both Delphi and C++Builder and has examples in both languages. We recommend that Delphi and C++ programmers forget about error-prone coding for manual serial ports and do not re-invent the wheel.
