Ideal Nginx Server – Ubuntu Version (22.04), new to Linux or server administration? The course includes a Linux “crash course” for beginners. This 1-hour “on course” course will teach you the commands, terminology, and procedures associated with this course. This course focuses on NGINX, the high-performance web server responsible for serving virtually all of the world’s most popular websites. We start with a clean slate and build the perfect nginx server layer by layer. I will teach you step by step to the point where you have the skills, knowledge and confidence to host multiple secure WordPress sites on an unmanaged VPS or dedicated server using nginx. You won’t need support from your host. You will be your own system administrator. This course covers the entire spectrum of setting up an NGINX server on Ubuntu. We’ll cover everything from initial server setup to strengthening and optimizing server distribution. install, strengthen and optimize Nginx, MariaDB and php8.1.
Although Nginx, MariaDB and PHP8.1 installations are fairly well protected by default, we will spend over 1.5 hours hardening and optimizing Nginx, MariaDB and PHP8.1. Next we will install our first WordPress site. We then begin the process of strengthening and optimizing WordPress. Installing a caching and security plugin does not optimize or enhance the security of your WordPress site. Some “security plugins” themselves are a source of vulnerabilities. Almost 4 hours of the course are dedicated to strengthening and optimizing WordPress. We are looking at strengthening and optimizing WordPress on the server side and will improve the security of our site step by step. Throughout the course, the principle is observed: install only what is needed, then strengthen and optimize. The most important aspect of any server is security. I’m not just addressing this aspect: every configuration step you take is aimed at ensuring security. We optimize the server, but not at the expense of weak security. It is impossible to list all the levels of protection and security enhancements that we implement in this section. A complete list can be found in the current course syllabus.
