Description
Linux KVM Course for System and Cloud Engineers. KVM virtual machine is a virtualization solution for Linux. It contains a loadable kernel module that allows the Linux kernel to act as a hypervisor. KVM provides hardware-assisted virtualization for a variety of guest operating systems. Under KVM, each VM is a Linux process scheduled and managed by the kernel and has private virtual hardware (such as CPU, network card, disk, etc.). It also supports nested virtualization that allows you to run a VM inside another virtual machine. In this course, we will cover the goals of KVM (Kernel Based Machines), at the end of the session, we will discuss the following topics with corresponding LABs:
Short introduction to Hypervior and KVM:
- What is a hypervisor?
- KVM brief introduction, its advantages and disadvantages and terminology
Install and configure KVM
- LAB details, prerequisite for KVM installation
- Install KVM
- KVM network configuration
- Configuring the KVM storage pool
Create virtual guest machines
KVM Management
- Managing virtual guest machines
- Backup (snapshots) of virtual guest machines
- Increase the disk size of the guest virtual machine
- Create/restore snapshots of guest virtual machines
- Rename a guest VM
- Increase resources in guest virtual machines
- Simulate the guest VM
- Fix KVM problems
- Restore the VM
- Create a KVM vBridge (Host and NAT only)
