Azure DevOps Server, formerly known as Team Foundation Server or TFS, is a version of Visual Studio software with many capabilities for teamwork and collaboration. .NET programmers are familiar with Visual Studio, an integrated coding environment for developing .NET applications that run on the Windows family of operating systems. TFS is a special version of Visual Studio released for team purposes. In team development, code development is not done by just one hand, so there are many changes to the code made by different people, individuals or subgroups working on individual parts of the program. To maintain code integrity and avoid errors and control and coordinate those changes, we need the mechanisms and tools that TFS provides for just that purpose.

This Microsoft product includes a variety of tools for source code management (TFS or git default source control, etc.), reporting, requirements management, project management (both duplicate-style and watermark or cascaded), automated sharing, test management, software testing, distribution management, and more. In short, TFS provides all software lifecycle needs for programmers and development teams.

TFS can be installed on a Windows server or client operating system. If a 32-bit version is available, you can use either a 32-bit or a 64-bit operating system. We recommend using the server OS unless your TFS instance is for evaluation or personal use.

Do not use server core installation option when you configure Windows Server for TFS. This is not supported.

Although TFS supports installation on client OSes, we do not recommend it for evaluation or personal use. TFS installations on client OSes do not support integration with SharePoint products or reporting. TFS proxy cannot be installed on client OSes. If you need to use any of these features, install TFS on the server OS.

The available versions are the original MSDN versions, except for the 2013 version, which has no other serial or activator and apparently does not require activation.

For the 2020 version, there is another version called Express, which is no different from the 2020 version, except for the limited number of users (5 people).
