Explanation
A Level Mathematics: Pure (Year 2), The course covers all the second year pure content of A level. The course is suitable for all major exam boards, including Edexcel, OCR, AQA and MEI. It is also a great course for anyone who wants to learn advanced pure math. This course is intended to be purchased by adults. The main parts of the course are: Parametric Equations – where we learn how to express algebraic fractions in terms of fractions, a trick used to great effect later in the course. Graphing Functions – where we explore functions in modules, transform graphs, and learn about different types of functions, scope and domain. Binary expansion – here we extend the binomial expansion formula covered in my Pure (Year 1 / AS) course to include negative and fractional powers.
Radians – we learn a new way of measuring angles, and the wonderful things this makes easier. Trigonometric Functions – here we learn three new trig functions (sec, cosec and cosec), and explore the many ways these new functions can be used. Trigonometric Identification and Modeling – Here we learn the angle formulas, and see how these can be used. We also explore a harmonic model and learn to use this to model real-world situations. Variations – in this unit we take the variations previously learned in the pure course (Year 1/AS) to a whole new level. We learn how to classify pretty much every type of work we can think of, learning the law of the chain, the rules of product and quantity, as well as the rates of change that are connected.
