Explanation
DNV GeniE is a conceptual design software for offshore and offshore structures published by Det Norske Veritas Group. GeniE is a design and analysis tool based on the finite element method, and its main features, we can mention high flexibility, productivity and innovation in the design of offshore structures. This software can be used to design various parts of the building such as beams, plates, shell and reinforced roof, etc. In addition to structural design, load modeling is also important in the design of these structures. This part of the software can help us in the design of the equipment, the pressure and stress of the wind flow, the stress of the components of the floating structures, etc.
Conceptual models for this software can be edited and quality checked at every stage of design. This software is offered in a modular format and Wajac and Sestra can be mentioned as its main functional units. These components can be found in the user interface of the software and can calculate the effects of environmental loads such as sea waves, currents, wind, etc. and perform finite element analysis tests.
DNV Genie features:
- Conceptual design of beams, plates and curved surfaces
- Automated creation of closed chambers in the conceptual model to perform stability testing and hydrodynamic analysis
- Design of pipe joints based on API and NORSOK standards or user defined rules
- Calculation of wind stress on various building materials and columns
- And…
DNV GeniE System Requirements
Sesam is supported on Windows 10 (64-bit).
Minimal equipment advice
This recommendation is intended for activities such as jacket, deck and topside design analysis including wave and sand slope analysis. Hydrostatic analysis and less hydrodynamic analysis of the frequency domain can also be performed.
- graphics card: Open GL or DX11 compatible. It can be added to the processor (eg Intel HD).
- Remember: 8-16 GB
- Processor: Dual core, Intel I5 or equivalent 64-bit version of Windows Operating System
- storage: 250-500 GB
- show: 17″ supporting 1280×1024, laptop replacement 15″ supporting 1280×1024
Recommended equipment recommendation
This advice is for all types of Sesam analysis, also large models of ships or similar structures with wooden and shell objects.
- graphics cardsGenerally, a dedicated GPU for DX11 should fit at least 1 GB (preferably 2 GB or more) of dedicated GPU RAM, especially for larger models.
- Remember: 16-32 GB
- Processor: Quad core, Intel I7 or equivalent
- storage: 500 GB – 1 TB
- show: 24″ supporting 1900×1200 (or -1080), laptop replacement 17″ supporting 1900×1200 (or -1080)
graphics drivers
‘Graphics driver’ below refers to the system-level software provided by your graphics card (usually Intel, NVIDIA or ATI) to interface Windows with the GPU. This is provided by the operating system or graphics card.
By ‘Genie graphics driver’ below is meant the software used by GeniE to interact with the graphics driver described above.
Using DX11
DirectX 11.0 is the preferred GeniE graphics driver and is the ideal installation method.
Using DX9
GeniE will work on integrated Intel CPU/GPUs and older GPUs using legacy drivers.
Using OpenGL
The GeniE OpenGL2 driver is a shader based driver that is provided as an alternative if a user has problems with other drivers. It tries to support all OpenGL 2.0+ hardware
