Maintenance and Strengthening of Reinforced Concrete Structures This course will cover methods of evaluating concrete structures. Methods and techniques of data collection and what data you need to do the evaluation. You will have a checklist to facilitate data collection of buildings. Corrosion phenomena and how to identify the causes of cracking will be presented. Concrete visual inspection and non-destructive tests and corrosion testing of steel are discussed in detail from a practical perspective. All these inspection and detailing methods are used worldwide and are compatible with ACI, BS and European codes. Repair and strengthening of various concrete members such as superstructures made of concrete, beams and columns with different failure modes will be discussed.
In this course, other methods of repair and reinforcement, such as the repair method using steel components, will be presented with real examples and practical methods. An advanced repair method using FRP that is very important in some buildings and requires special calculations and application will be demonstrated in this course.
